South Carolina has always been known to tourists as a destination with beautiful beaches and cool, captivating mountain retreats. Now you can discover South Carolina’s epic role in many of America’s major military conflicts with the Heritage Corridor’s Military Heritage Trail.

The trail celebrates the bravery of South Carolinians from every generation, who risked their lives to defend their state and nation.

Using a map from the Heritage Corridor and signs along the route, visitors can traverse more than 20 sites in 14 counties, stretching from the shores of Charleston to the mountains of Upstate South Carolina. The trail also spans the centuries, covering the founding of the colony of Carolina to the Second World War. Each site on the trail has interpretative signs detailing the events. All are ideal destinations for families to explore and enjoy.
