Elloree Heritage Museum

Heritage Corridor Site

Shop, dine and visit our award winning museum where you can explore a plantation cotton gin house, see the variety of horse-drawn plows, planters and cultivators that farmers once used to work their land, learn how cotton is grown, picked and ginned today.  Interactive exhibits weave the history of eastern Orangeburg County from early Native American occupation along the Santee River, to the coming of the railroad in the 19th Century.  The founding of Elloree in 1886 as a commercial center to serve the area farmers is captured in a series of dioramas depicting early businesses needed by farmers such as the bank, hardware store and pharmacy.
