February 11, 2008– Clemson Area Chamber of
Commerce
August 18, 2008-The Fire Museum, North Charleston, SC
*Session from
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The
old saying goes that the most important thing to any business is,
“Location, location, location.” As location is often outside of our
control for sites within the SCNHC, it often boils down to,
“Visibility, visibility, visibility.” The SCNHC can help you market
your site regardless of your marketing budget. This course will
cover paid and free marketing opportunities within and outside of
the SCNHC. Come spend some time with our experts and learn the tried
and true methods of attraction marketing in the Heritage Corridor.
March 10, 2008– North Augusta Community Center, North Augusta, SC
March 28,
2008– Greenwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Greenwood, SC
*Session from
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Do
you need money for your site? We all do, but some people just seem
to get more than others. It’s not because they have friends in high
places. It’s because they know how to identify and apply for
funding. This course will cover the in and outs of the SCNHC grant
program as well as giving you the resources and tools needed to
identify and apply for funding outside the SCNHC.
May 9, 2008– Anderson County Museum, Anderson,
SC
August 8, 2008– Region 3 Discovery Center, Blackville, SC
*Session from
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Interpretive and educational programming is not presented in a
vacuum. Too many sites live by the motto, “if we present it, they
will come.” Unfortunately, this rarely works. Knowing who is
attending is vital to designing and delivering a quality
interpretive product. This session will focus on understanding that
audience. Through surveys and on-the-spot evaluation techniques, you
will learn how to tailor your programming to meet your audiences’
needs.
June 2, 2008-Orangeburg County Chamber of
Commerce, Orangeburg, SC
*Session from
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

When done well, interpretive and educational
programming can be your ticket to increased visitation,
visibility and funding. However, when done poorly it can be your
down fall. Have you ever been to a program where the guide spent
hours boring you? Would you go back to that site? More importantly,
what would you tell others about that site? Your visitors talk to
other potential visitors so you need to make the best impression
possible. Join us for an informative session on how to develop and
deliver thematic programming that will help you create visitor
experiences that keep them coming back. You’ll get the real
world tools needed to accomplish your interpretive goals.
July 21, 2008-Oconee Heritage Center, Oconee, SC
September 12, 2008-Edgefield Town Hall, Edgefield, SC
*Session from
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
