Text Box: Journey With Us

Why you should Join the Journey!

Make a Difference
Heritage tourism development aids in this struggle by assisting in economic growth and also the residents’ sense of well-being and pride. It brings attention to local cultural, historic and natural resources and stimulates an evaluation of their meaning and importance to the community. The interest of visitors from outside a community causes local residents to “look” at what is theirs, giving them a sense of pride and thus the drive to protect those resources. Your support can make this happen.

Your Contribution to Existing Efforts
By pooling resources, services and marketing, a critical mass of attractions and services can be established and effective promotions can be implemented. Local resources are organized and developed along designated trails and themes of the Corridor to provide destinations that illustrate local stories and entertain visitors.  These locations feature cultural, natural and historical assets to tell the story of the area. You can help share this story with the residents and visitors of the Heritage Corridor.

We Match Your Assistance
As a National Heritage Area, the SC National Heritage Corridor receives federal funding that must be matched by other non-federal sources. Through assistance from state agencies, grant programs and your investment we are able to match those funds. With your assistance, the SCNHC has potential to leverage an additional $5 million in the rural communities of this state by 2006.

You Can Help
With your generous gift to our program, you can help support the communities and residents of rural South Carolina. Help preserve, protect and share the distinctive natural and beautiful landscapes; the cherished, endearing and unique stories and way of life of the people; and the legacy left to us by our wonderful, rich and sometimes controversial past.
