The Connection 
 A Traveling Art Show
Celebrating the connections between Barbados, West Indies and South Carolina!

The SCNHC has created The Connection, a traveling art exhibit to entertain and educate citizens about the connections between South Carolina and Barbados in the West Indies.

The Connection was born out of a partnership developed between the Barbadian Tourism Ministry and the SCNHC to celebrate the historical and cultural connections between the Carolinas and Barbados.

The exhibit consists of over 70 pieces from South Carolina and Barbadian artists representing various media that reflect the similarities between South Carolina and Barbados in the fields of Agriculture, Horticulture, Arts, African American Heritage and Maritime Heritage.

From December 2007 through October 2008, this traveling art exhibit will stop at 5 locations in South Carolina and then travel over to Barbados for a celebration of The Connection  and exhibition.

Included with the artwork is an interpretive exhibit highlighting the rich historical and cultural connection still present between the island and South Carolina today. In addition, a lecture series, interpretive programming and receptions are planned at each stop along the SC National Heritage Corridor.
