GUROSIKS BERRY PLANTATION

Families, school groups and tour buses… come enjoy the delicious strawberries and the beauty of pristine rural America at Gurosiks Berry Plantation. The family farm provides ample parking, clean restrooms, picnic shelters and tables! You must see the tree that ate the gate while visiting the farm. Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Free admission. Call for group rates.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL AT BOONE HALL

Saturday, April 19th  and Sunday, April 20th

Strawberries...strawberries...strawberries...are the centerpiece at Boone Hall Plantation for one of the most popular special events of the Lowcountry spring. The Lowcountry Strawberry Festival features attractions and activities with guaranteed fun for the entire family. Music of all kinds, carriage rides around the farm, recipe and pie eating contests and of course a chance for families to pick their own strawberries are all reasons this festival has become a family tradition! Kick off the spring with a visit to Boone Hall Plantation! Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Admission $4 adults, $2 children 12 and under.

HERB DAY AT EMERALD FARM

Saturday, April 19th

This fun filled day for the entire family will offer a large variety of special herb plants...culinary, medicinal, aromatic and decorative! Bird houses, yard art, crafty ideas for your gardens and homes using nature’s best will all be featured. The Lakelands Bee Keepers    Association will be providing valuable information on honey production! Of course, while you’re on the farm take a ride on the Emerald Farm Express, experience the running of the Model Railroad, visit the antique shop and soap factory and meet the goats that call Emerald Farm home. Free admission, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE FESTIVAL OF BLACKVILLE

Saturday, April 26th

Come one, come all and experience agricultural heritage on the site of the Region 3 Discovery Center and the Agricultural Heritage   Museum. Festivities include an antique car and tractor show, Hit and Miss engines, crafters, regional foods, golf cart derby, plant sales, live music and so much more! Proceeds benefit the Agricultural Heritage Museum. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission $5 per car or $3 per person.

SHEEP AND WOOL DAYS AT MIDDLETON PLACE

Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th

Learn more about the sheep and the crafts made from their wool. Activities include sheep dog herding, sheep shearing and bathing as well as wool carding, dyeing, spinning and weaving. There will be plenty of food to sample with butter churning, traditional lamb dishes and a wine and cheese tasting. Crafts made from wool will be   available for sale. Admission– Advance tickets $10 (Festival Only); $15 at the gate (Festival Only); $25 (Festival and Middleton Place Garden and Stableyards) Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

LUCKY ACRES FARM SPRING OPEN HOUSE

Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 4th

Visit Lucky Acres Farm, a family owned and growing Alpaca farm. Make the trip to Townville and experience the Alpaca’s first hand while exploring the country lifestyle on the farm. The gift shop will be open and feature the finest alpaca fur products for sale. There will be refreshments and free gifts for the children. JOHNSTON PEACH BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

Visit the Edgefield County Peach Museum as it opens its doors for the annual Town of Johnston Peach Blossom Festival. The annual festival is a celebration of the blooming of the peach trees. Events include rides, games, vendors, arts and crafts, a parade and live entertainment. Join in on this small town tradition in the heart of downtown Johnston. Free admission to the Museum. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

SPLIT CREEK FARM

Saturday, May 3rd

Discover a one-of-a kind farming experience at Split Creek Farm! Tours and demonstrations will be going on throughout the day. Learn all about the different breeds of goats, tour the milking parlor, and visit with the farm animals. Great photo opportunities will definitely be available! And, of course, what spring would be complete without the welcoming of the new goat kids. Goat milk products will be available for sampling and food and drinks can be purchased. Take time to visit the gift shop and The Hen House while exploring Split Creek Farm. 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission—Adults, $5, Children 12 and under, $2.

MAY FEST AT EMERALD FARM

Saturday, May 3rd

Celebrate spring at Emerald Farm! This wonderful day will feature music and maypole dancing along with crafter exhibits on wine, beer, mead, cheese making, and confections.  Home Beer and Wine Trade Association has sanctioned this competition and judging with tasting and award ceremony!  Contact the farm for registration and the event schedule.  Of course, experience Emerald Farm while participating in the May Fest.  9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free Admission.

THE BARN AT BIG SKY FARM

Saturday, May 3rd

Join in the fun at Big Sky Farm for the annual “Farm Day.”  It’s a short drive for a bit of learning and a lot of fun as the days activities include antique tractors on display, crafts, farm exhibits, the aviary with peafowl, pheasants, pigeons, pigs, cows, horses, goats, sheep and more, more, more!  Be sure to visit the unique shop filled with antiques, collectibles, goat milk, cheese, farm fresh eggs, and a variety of other items.  Proceeds benefit the 4-H and FFA of the Upstate.  10 a.m. - 4 p.m. $5 admission per car.

CHARLESTON TEA PLANTATION– FIRST FLUSH CELEBRATION

Each spring Mother Nature awakens the tea plants and another growing season begins.  This “First Flush” is nature’s very special gift to the Charleston Tea Plantation – America’s Only Tea Garden.  Bring a blanket or chair and come celebrate the “First Flush” with a day full of fun, food, live music, games, relaxation and friendship.  Visit the gift shop for unique merchandise and take home a supply of American Classic Tea.  Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. $8 Admission in advance/$10 at the gate.

UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA FARM TOUR

Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st

Sponsored by the Upstate Chapter of Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, Whole Foods and others this tour is a great family adventure!  Follow the maps provided when you purchase your tickets and enjoy the day on your self guided tour of the farms.  The purpose of the tour is to raise awareness of environmentally sound farming and promote tourism to local farms.  Farms with products in season will have items for sale and tours will be available. One button per car gets you admission to all participating farms.  Or, you can purchase individual farm tickets for $10.  Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Admission in advance$20/$25 day of.

Want milk? Then take a drive to Happy Cow Creamery and        experience the farm! Enjoy the story of Happy Cow from the baby calf to the bottle of milk...see the grazing pastures as you take a trolley ride, view where the cows are milked and the milk is bottled, and finally taste the delicious Happy Cow Milk!  Tours at 11 a.m./     1 p.m./3 p.m. Tours $3.00 per person

HERITAGE DAYS AT CEDAR RIDGE FARM

Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th

The 4th Annual Cedar Ridge Farm Heritage Days will feature an antique tractor show!  The show will feature tractors and other   antique equipment from the past.  Cedar Ridge hopes to help    preserve and promote the agricultural heritage of the upstate through this annual tradition!  Collectors of antique farm equipment are invited to bring their equipment for exhibit and exchange of ideas.  Other activities will include animal exhibits, crafts and games for the children, musical entertainment and wagon rides.  Its fun for the entire family!  10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free Admission

HIGH GROVE FARM

Farm and antique enthusiasts from all over will want to join High Grove for their 12th Antique and Craftsman Gathering hosted in a quiet country setting.  More than 50 antique dealers will set up on the grounds of this 1800’s cabin.  Enjoy the spring gardens, visit the gift shop, purchase Mennonite baked goods, and enjoy the festivities while visiting High Grove Farm.  10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Free Admission.

2008 ANDERSON COUNTY LOCAL FOOD FESTIVAL

Saturday, June 7th

The Anderson County Farmer’s Market will celebrate the arrival of fresh fruit and vegetables with the 2008 Local Food Festival. Food, music and fun for the entire family will be had while celebrating the arrival of the freshest, best quality summer vegetables and fruits  local farmers can offer. DAYLILY DAYS AT CEDAR RIDGE FARM

Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th

Daylily Days 2008 is an event where the daylily is featured...considerd to be a nearly perfect perennial plant! During the festival, daylilies should be at their peak. See the range of flowers in the display beds. On Friday, programs will discuss daylily care, propagation and use in landscaping. Saturday is “Sharing Day” on the farm. A complimentary smoked chicken lunch will be served as a way of saying thank you to customers and friends! 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free Admission.

LEGARE FARM’S SWEET CORN FESTIVAL

Join in on the tons of fun at the Blackberry Festival!  Enjoy         blackberry picking and gem mining while taking in the whitetail deer exhibit and the barnyard filled with animals.  The farm store will be stocked with jams, jellies, pies, homemade ice cream, hot dogs and MORE!  Fresh peaches will be available on site.  Saturday 9 a.m.—7:30 p.m. and Sunday, 1:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Free Admission/Fee per event
