Aiken Jazz Festival featuring legendary trombonist Wycliffe Gordon

The Aiken Jazz Society is proud to announce the appearance of legendary jazz trombonist, Wycliffe Gordon, for a one-night-only performance on October 4, 2009. Wycliffe will appear in concert at the Aiken Community Playhouse at 7:00 PM and tickets will be $30/each for reserved seating.
Wycliffe is a 5-time winner of the Jazz Journalists Association’s Trombonist of the Year award and has appeared on PBS in Ken Burns’ documentary on the origins of jazz. A performer, conductor, composer, arranger and educator, his musical talents have graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center and in venues around the world as he travels with the U.S. Statesmen of Jazz on behalf of the State Department. His recent appearance in Augusta was sold out at $100 per ticket!
Sponsorship opportunities are available to help underwrite the costs of this event as well as a workshop for high school and college students, conducted by Wycliffe at no cost to students.
